Critics say Sabina Altynbekova, 17, is so beautiful that it’s a distraction to the sport. Even the athlete’s own coach says his team is increasingly about one player, at least as far as the fans are concerned. “It is impossible to work like this,” Nurlan Sadikov, coach of the nation’s under-19 team, told Tengrin News in a quote translated by the Daily Mail. “The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship.” A Google translation of an article has the coach describing the team as “hampered” by Altynbekova. Sadikov was speaking specifically about a recent tournament in Taiwan in which the young athlete became an online sensation. Fans across Asia — and, eventually around the world — took to the Internet, smitten with Altynbekova. YouTube videos that show her warming up, high-fiving her teammates or just standing around have received tens of thousands and even hundreds of thousands of views. The Straits-Times reported that Taiwanese fans were holding Kazakhstan flags and arriving an hour early just to get a glimpse of Altynbekova. While there are numerous Facebook pages that claim to be associated with her and even a Twitter account with more than 22,000 followers, Altynbekova’s only official online presence appears to be limited to an Instagram account and a page on VK, a social network popular in Europe, Russia and much of the former Soviet states including her native Kazakhstan.

Jesus Christ Kazakhstan, is this your first time seeing a hot girl? Seriously, I don’t want to come across as one of those “do you even drink bro” bros but come on. She’s attractive but she’s not go to a volleyball game just to see her and then sit in the stands jerking off and taking pics all day hot. Act like you’ve seen an attractive female one time.

And yes, the coach and the team are total pussy crybabies for basically whining to the league and world saying their teammate is too hot. That’s not her fault, that’s your fault for being gross. But still, I have to imagine this could all be avoided if Kazakhstan or Taiwan or wherever her tournament is could act cool for a minute and not be the guy at the bar throwing bad pickup lines and staring at every hot chick who walks in the door. Such a grade school move. You take pictures at the game, then go home and obsess about her and stalk her life. Not in person. Be better.

I just re-read the article and it seems as though the big issue was that tournament in Taiwan, in which case this is 100% a height thing. I have no actual evidence to back this up. I’ve never been to Asia, but Asians are short and short people are Obsessed with tall people, that’s just a fact. Can’t get enough of tall people, it’s like when the rest of us see a midget.
