Andrew Jones Details Battling Leukemia Plus Another Positive Step For The Texas Guard

I know this is about the fifth time I’ve blogged about Andrew Jones, but I promise you I’m not going to stop sharing updates on him. He’s the guy that everyone in the world, even if you’re an Oklahoma fan, should be cheering for this year, especially after watching the video above.

Jones has been fairly public about his battle with leukemia as he’s posted videos of him dribbling while in the hospital and tweets about getting through the days. However, this is the first time he’s really spoke about it on a public forum. It’s not a surprise that he’s incredibly optimistic and trying to inspire others, because everything I’ve heard about the kid is positive.

Speaking of positive, Jones is taking another positive step. He’s going to be enrolled at Texas and living in a dorm when classes start next week. That’s huge for Jones, who is trying to get back onto the court as quick as possible and earlier this summer we saw him playing some pickup. He still does have treatments and more steps to take, but this is a giant one in his battle against the disease.

Jones played just 10 games for Texas last year before being diagnosed with the disease. During that time he scored over 13 points per game and looked to be the 1-2 threat Texas needed with him and Mo Bamba. All I know is I hope we get to see him on the court as soon as possible and hope he’s All-Big 12 like he would have been last year.
