Tiger Woods Posts A Mediocre (shitty) Opening Round 71

The Northern Trust - Round One

Less than two weeks after Tiger sent shockwaves through sports fans everywhere nearly winning his first major in over 10 years, he was back at it at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey for the first leg of the playoffs. And it was it disappointing.

The driver is our achilles heel. Just can’t get off the fucking tee and everybody knows it. At the PGA Tiger shot a final round 64 despite hitting 5 (FIVE!) fairways. Short game, great. Iron play, great. Putting, solid as of late.

Driver? Terrible. Just awful. He was experimenting with different shafts and lofts so we were all curious how the big stick would fare this week.

First hole.

Left. Can’t get it close from the rough.

Second hole.

Left. Can’t get it on the green from the rough.

Eventually he straightened it out with some long irons and 3-woods, then was able to attack on the par five 17th.

But a lack of ability to really get anything going and a couple second nine bogeys produced an uninspiring even par 71.

Not terrible and not out of it, but if I’m going to keep making Declarations Of He’s Backs, we’re going to need more impressive starts.

Said today he was simply in between clubs a lot.

Also commented on “the match.”
