Thursday Homestretch

Was tied up at Sirius studios yesterday afternoon, so apologies on no Wednesday Homestretch.  Willie and I interviewed Reverend Run and his lovely wife, Justine, as they are out promoting their new series called All About The Washingtons on Netflix. We are going to air the interview tomorrow during Barstool Breakfast, which I will cohost again from 7-9AM on SIRIUS Cannel 85.

RUNLRGWe got held up a bit because we were scheduled to interview Aretha Franklin right after, but she never showed… Talk about a lack of R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Apologies and RIP.

I kind of locked up during our talk with Run… I was starstruck, I guess, and wound up just staring at him for the whole 20 minute segment.  Thank God Wille was there to bail me out.

I wore shelltoe Adidas out of respect, but Run chided me off-mic for wearing them without socks.  I think that sent me into an emotional tailspin from which I never recovered.

One More Programming Note- I co-cast the Podfathers podcast again this week with Chaps and Clem… Newest edition dropped yesterday. We talk about vasectomies, and a handful of other deperately random topics.

Here’s something I find even more cringe-worthy than that cheap Aretha joke above (apologies once more)…  Notre Dame is tweaking their uniforms again for their Shamrock Series game in Yankee Stadium vs legendary football powerhouse, Syracuse University, in late November.

Gold helmets and navy blue jerseys… Stop fucking trying to be Oregon.

Markets Today- Markets are up across the board on this fine Thursday.  China talks have been friendlier, Turkish lira recovering, and good numbers this morning out of Walmart.

Macy’s rebounding slightly (up 1%) after it got hammered Wednesday on a beat and raise that was not enough of a beat nor raise for people who are long.  I mentioned it Monday that Macy’s was the best performing retailer YTD behind Amazon, so I think it would’ve taken herculean results to convince holders to not at least take a little dough off the table.

We also heard from JCPenney, and Dillard’s this morning, and looking forward to ARAY, AMAT, JWN, NVDA, and ZOES all reporting after the bell.

Switching gears slightly, but staying within the world of finance- If you are looking for a reason to be angry this afternoon, the NY Post had an article that outlines a practice I wasn’t familiar with.

Whistleblower makes shocking IRS, insider trading allegations

Apparently, the IRS actively trades on inside information… A big no-no for everyone else in the world.  There was some legislation in 2012 that trimmed this illegal-for-everyone-else practice, but it still exists in other forms within the IRS today. The article is somewhat long and based on a mysterious “whistleblower,” but it is a good read for someone who has recently been audited and wants to get even more incensed by the cunts in the IRS for reasons other than they caught you not declaring the cash gifts you were given while working on the floor of the NYSE from 1997-1999, after you foolishly blogged about it in a stupid fucking segment called Wall Street Wednesday.

And finally, here’s a parenting moment for those with young boys…

My wife had noticed the word “stripperella” in the search history of our OnDemand cable option.  She asked me what it was, and I told her I vaguely remember it being a short-lived cartoon series based on a Pamela Anderson action character in the early 2000’s.  Funny enough, Stripperlla aired before either of my sons were born so I told the wife they probably saw mention of it somewhere, and they were just curious if it is still around.

To spare the boys embarrassment, we decided I would talk to them about it, and now I gotta figure out how to convince my sons to agree to convince their mom that it wasn’t me looking for old episodes of Stripperella.

Nobody said parenting would be easy.

Take a report.
