The Orlando Magic Are The Latest Team To Bring Back Some Retro Jerseys

As if I needed another reason to be excited for the upcoming NBA season, more and more teams are starting to smarten up and bring back the fire jerseys of my youth. I’ve blogged numerous times about teams going back to some retro looks, and I feel like my speaking into existence my desire for more teams to join in has helped bring this to fruition. You don’t need to thank me, just trying to do my part.

With the Magic now bringing these bad boys back, I cannot stress how awesome it is. The mid 90s Magic with Shaq and Penny were fucking awesome, and played a major role of my early NBA fandom. It’s a shame that team never was able to win a title because damn were they talented. Obviously nowadays the feel in Orlando is more about the future and the potential around Aaron Gordon/Mo Bamba/Jonathan Isaac. That’s a pretty intriguing young core, and you sprinkle in Vucevic and hey, even if they don’t win many games at least they’ll look legit while they lose. Because make no mistake, the 90s Magic jersey is the very definition of fire. I hope they also rock the home white version as well because that’s equally as beautiful. I know Nike was under some scrutiny last year about their jersey’s because they ripped and were too futuristic and all this crap, well there’s no better way to get back in the good graces of the NBA world than to bring in the nostalgia factor. That will play 10 times outa 10.

I would think this is something Nike is slowly going to release for every team, or at least they should. To be honest I don’t get why the Magic just don’t make this their full time look. They’re releasing them to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the franchise, but this is such a better look than what they currently have, just make the switch. Not one person will complain I am certain.

Also, in a previous blog I talked about how the Hornets are also going retro this year for a few games, well they are taking it up a notch in addition to their jerseys. Look at this floor!!

Everyone wants to talk about how the 90s were a better era of NBA basketball, well it looks like we’re headed back in time and I could not be more excited. Keep going Nike/NBA, there are a ton of legit retro looks still out there that I need to see repeatedly over the course of the 2019 season.
