I'm Not Sure The Washington Wizards Owner Knows What An 'A' Means When Grading Moves

[NBC Washington] – Leonsis, in fact, said he would give team president Ernie Grunfeld and his team an A-grade for their summer so far.

“I thought what Ernie did this offseason is exactly what we had planned,” Leonsis said. “I think when a season ends you sit down and see what you want to accomplish. For the Wizards, it was we need to have more balance and more depth and be more prepared for injuries.

I’ll be honest here. I don’t think Ted Leonsis knows what an ‘A’ means. I mean, that’s the only explanation here for his breakdown of the Wizards offseason. This is what they planned? They planned on bringing in Dwight Howard? They planned on drafting Troy Brown?

The only thing they could have planned on doing was moving Marcin Gortat, based on him and John Wall constantly arguing. Listen, the Wizards had an okay offseason. They moved Gortat. They signed Dwight and Jeff Green on the mid-level and minimum deals. They added some depth with Troy Brown.

But an A? Come on, Ted. You still aren’t competing. You still aren’t helping John Wall and Bradley Beal when they are in their prime be a contender. Ernie Grunfeld has long been a complaint by most Wizards fan as he’s made some questionable – yeah, we’ll go with that – moves during his time in the front office.

The Wizards will try and compete to finish in the top half of the East this year, something I’d bet they don’t finish in the top-4. They are likely more than No. 6 team in the East. But, does this look like the face of a man who thinks his team had an ‘A’ offseason?
