Last Year Jacoby Brissett Had The Greatest Preseason Performance In NFL History

The preseason is amazing for so many reasons. First and foremost, it allows us to watch football. There will be a football game on tv every single week from tonight until February, and that alone is reason enough to celebrate. The preseason also allows us to watch our favorite players shake off the rust and play some live-action ball for a quarter or two before letting the players fighting for their job step in, which brings me to the third reason (of many) that I love watching preseason football: every once in a while, a guy steps in and head-and-shoulders above his opposition, and then we get to watch an incredible performance put on by a person we likely do not know.

Brissett was absolutely on fire during this game. He threw for 341 yards, 4 touchdowns, and ran for another. He also brought the Patriots back from being down 20 points late in the third (sound familiar?) and led them on a drive to take the lead with 44 seconds left in the game. Sure, they lost the game in the end. However, three days after turning in this performance, Brissett was traded from the Patriots to the Colts, where he ended up starting 15 games. I know that Indy was a cellar-dweller this entire season, but the guy got a starting gig directly after lighting it up on the preseason field, and that’s pretty cool.

The play on the field might not be super high quality, but it’s football. The six month wait is finally over.
