Sean Doolittle Is The Voice Of Reason When It Comes To Baseball Twitter

As everyone knows, it’s been a bumpy couple of weeks for baseball players on Twitter. Josh Hader, Sean Newcomb, and Trea Turner were all caught with old tweets using racial and or homophobic slurs. It’s left a lot of people with a lot of questions, such as “how did they not delete them”, but more importantly “if they used those words before, how do we know they don’t use them now?” Basically, is it a culture problem in baseball, or is it a bunch of idiot 18 year old kids riding around in the back seat of their friend’s truck going to Wendy’s to get double bacon cheeseburgers, with no way of knowing that one day they’ll sign multi-million dollar contracts and those tweets from 7 years ago would be exposed? Sean Doolittle tackles all of that:

Very well said. Basically Doolittle uses his brain and tries to communicate rational thought to people who are so quick to get out their pitchforks and demonize the players, while at the same time doesn’t excuse the tweets/behavior. This is how I try to approach every situation, not everything has to be black and white, you can hold multiple thoughts about a topic. You can think Trea’s tweets sucked while also thinking Trea is a good guy. Saying “faggot” at 18 doesn’t make him a bigot, necessarily. But as Doolittle says, you have to show you have grown through actions. All in all, a good little Twitter thread from Doolittle.

PS: But seriously, everyone just nuke your Twitters. Delete your account and start over. Also stop using the n word in tweets. Even if it’s a movie quote. Just think “will tweeting the n word ever benefit me?” The answer won’t shock you.
