Sorry for not putting the video in here, but SI’s video player doesn’t work with our site. In case you didn’t bother to click the link (probably for the best), about 15 seconds in Jessica Mendoza begins talking about the Tampa Bay Rays possibly trading starting pitcher Chris Archer by tomorrow’s deadline. Now Archer’s name has come up and been linked to the Yankees, Padres, and Dodgers so this is for sure a relevant topic. Mendoza, a baseball analyst paid to talk about baseball, suggested the Rays ask for Gleyber Torres from the Yankees in the trade. Oh yeah just take our top prospect. Take a potential cornerstone of the franchise. Take everyone why don’t ya? You want Judge in that deal too? Sureeee.

Now I don’t mean to give dumb people the spotlight. But suggesting the Yankees trade their 21 year old potential super star for a soon-to-be 30 year old pitcher, who may or may not be past the point of no return in his career, is one of the single dumbest things I’ve ever heard in my entire life. That’s no exaggeration. That should almost be a fireable offense. It’s not like she gathered her thoughts and said yeah if the Rays asked for Albert Abreu, Clint Frazier, and a middle-level prospect for Archer because then she would sound smart. Nope, that would involve her preparing and knowing what she was talking about. That would be too much to ask. I think it begs the question if she should be fired and I leave that to you, the reader, to decide.

I have no problem voicing my strong opinion of Mendoza on the ESPN telecast. If not for A-Rod I wouldn’t even tune in as much as I do. But anytime she decides to share a point I try to find the mute button as fast as humanly possible. It’s nonstop with her. And to any of the Britni de la Cretaz’s out there, no it’s not because she’s a woman. It’s because she’s suggesting the Rays demand the Yankees most prized possession; someone who made the All Star team in his rookie season despite missing the first three weeks of the season, for a 29 year old pitcher whose ERA has risen every season since 2015. I mean for Christ’s sake Brian Cashman said no to Jacob deGrom when Gleyber’s name got brought up. Jacob deGrom would be a ticket to the World Series for the Yankees and Cash wouldn’t even hear another word when they suggested such a thing. What makes you think Chris Archer would be okay? Are we talking about Blake Snell, Honeywell, and Archer for Gleyber. Well, that’s a start. Stop giving Mendoza the mic and letting her say this stupid shit. This 30 second clip ruined my afternoon.
