I'll Never Forgive Brandon Davies For Having Sex And Costing Us More Jimmer Time At BYU

So here I was watching some basketball games over the weekend when I saw Brandon Davies and Jimmer Fredette playing together. I immediately got pissed off. Now, I know this may seem to roughly 98% of you but there’s a legit reason as to why it should upset you more.

You may be wondering why Brandon Davies having premarital sex in 2011 with his girlfriend pissed me off. No, it wasn’t the girl I had a crush on or anything like that. It’s because it cost us more Jimmer time at BYU and I got sucked down that wormhole weekend.

You see, BYU is a weird ass school. I don’t even care if that offends BYU, it’s the truth. Part of the BYU honor code says you can’t have premarital sex, which is bananas in college. Even bloggers can get laid in college. So as this came out, Brandon Davies, a starter and probably the second best player on a top-10 team in the country was suspended on March 1 for having sex with his girlfriend who went to Arizona State. What makes the suspension even worse is the fact that Danny Ainge and Ty Detmer backed the decision. Reason number roughly 1912948012984911 I hate the Celtics.

Back to Jimmer and Davies though. BYU entered the NCAA Tournament as a team that some thought could make the Final Four, even without Davies. That’s because Jimmer was not only the best player in the country at the time but he was one of the most entertaining hoopers of all time. Since this was prior to a lot of new technologies, most people had to watch Jimmer late at night on some weird channel playing against Kawhi and San Diego State.

BYU eventually lost to Florida in overtime in the Sweet 16. This is where one of the bigger what-ifs of recent memory pops up. They likely beat Florida with Davies as Alex Tyus had 19 and 17 without him on the floor. From there they would have been favored in likely every game. BYU would have played No. 8 seed Butler. If they beat Butler they would have played VCU in the Final Four. There’s no doubt BYU would have been favored over both of those teams. Then the national championship game would have given us Jimmer vs Kemba in a game that would have way more entertaining than UConn/Butler.

Because of that I’ll never forgive Brandon Davies for having sex. All I wanted to watch was more Jimmer at BYU and consensual sex in college had to ruin that. Never forget:
