It's Weird That There's Exactly Zero Drama Surrounding The Redskins Right Now
So far, this has been the weirdest start to Redskins training camp that I can remember. Why is it weird? Because there is zero drama surrounding it. Zero controversy. Zero front office leaks, QB squabbles, or media storms. It’s just…football. And I don’t know what to do about it.
I mean look at that rundown of previous years:
Who can forget Hayenesworth not being able to pass the conditioning test? Or the great QB battle of 2011 between John Beck and Sexy Rexy? 2013 brought us RG3’s delightful “All in for Week 1″ campaign, and then the next 2 years were littered with the RG3 vs Kirk Cousins battles. Remember when RG3 started camp as the #1 QB, and ended camp deactivated? I think Colt was the starter somewhere in the for a hot second, just a mess. And now? There’s no RG3. There’s no “will they sign Kirk to a deal”. There’s no “is McCloughan an alcoholic?”. There’s not even a kicker battle! We’re boring! We’re how winning NFL teams are supposed to be! What is this feeling?!
The only storyline to come out so far is players are much more impressed with Alex Smith than they were with Kirk Cousins:
Aw damn.
Players happy with the QB? Lots of communication? It’s almost as if everyone is on the same page. BeZare.
Knock on wood that it stays like this. While bad for preseason pageviews, winning regular season games and making the playoffs is great for them, and that’s what I want.
