Best Thing In Sports You'll See Today: Texas Guard Andrew Jones Is Back On The Court After Beating Cancer

We all need to read some good, upbeat news. We’re getting that here. Andrew Jones, a sophomore standout for Texas, was diagnosed with leukemia back in January, which I talked about here.  However, in just 5 months, Jones was cleared for online classes and able to move back into a dorm and now even better news as in just under 9 months Jones is back on the court.

Yes, it’s just him playing pickup but I don’t care. It’s remarkable the fight that Jones has put up as he’s been very public with his battle with leukemia on his Twitter account. Jones was one of the better guards in the Big 12 as he led the Longhorns in scoring before he was diagnosed with cancer. He was averaging 13.5 points per game and shooting 46% from three. As a freshman he averaged over 11 points per game. His goal is still to play next season but that does seem to be very much questionable despite this development.

I don’t even care that it’s questionable that Jones suits up for Texas next year. No one should ever doubt this kid again as he’s proven he doesn’t give a shit about medical diagnosis or anything like that. I hope he suits up and is an All-Big 12 player, because, fuck cancer.
