Nobody Panic, But Josh Gordon Will Miss The Start of Training Camp And Has No Timetable To Return

Alright this bombshell just dropped to start off our Monday and no one really knows how to make sense of it. You either can view this in a glass half full way manner or glass half empty. The positive people are spinning this that Josh is fine and is just trying to avoid the Hard Knocks cameras and the exposure he would getting that way. Flash is a pretty shy guy and given his past that would make sense. There’s also the part saying he will absolutely not be getting suspended for whatever this is, which is encouraging.

Now for the glass half empty people. This is Josh Gordon. We know his history and his struggles with drugs and alcohol. The last thing you wanted to see as a Cleveland Browns fan was this story come out today. When you see the words “get more treatment” that makes you think of rehab right away. When you see Josh is going to M.I.A. from training camp and there is no timetable for his return then I mean that’s scary shit. What could that actually mean? More news is sure to follow, but this is weird man. For an NFL spokesman to say we’ll address the matter at the appropriate time is not exactly what you want to be hearing.

From what is out there right now, I’m actually taking this in a glass half full perspective. The fact that he’s not suspended and the Hard Knocks factor is in play, it makes sense the organization and Josh wouldn’t want him out in the open from the start of training camp. As a fan of the player and not the team (even though I end up writing about the Browns more than anyone for some odd reason), I want Josh to be on the field. It is so much fun watching him dismantle secondaries, and with the Browns offense looking pretty solid to open the year I cannot imagine the numbers he’s going to produce if he’s there.

I’m hoping he’s perfectly fine and just playing this safe, but it’s still another weird story for a man who has had such a troubled life.
