Giannis Antetokounmpo Must Be A Big Friday Night Lights Fan Since He Doesn't Believe In Curses
Giannis is having one hell of a summer. He had his breakout season where people talked about him as a MVP candidate and started sliding him into the top-10 players in the league as a lock. This summer he’s been eating his way through America as he’s trying foods like corn dogs, which is just hilarious to me. Then he was named the cover athlete for NBA 2k.
Now, what is the 2k curse? Well, unlike Madden it doesn’t deal with injuries but rather leaving the team in the following year. LeBron (Heat) was the cover athlete for 2k14, Durant (OKC) was the cover athlete in 2k15, Paul George (Indiana) was the cover athlete for 2k17 and most notorious was Kyrie being the cover athlete last year and then getting traded.
But, Giannis? He’s got a bit of Coach Gaines from Friday Night Lights. All I can think about is Giannis in his accent doing this scene as he looks at like Malcolm Brogdon:
Now, do I believe him? Sure. For now. If Milwaukee continues to lose in the first round and gets stuck in that 4-6 seed in the East without advancing then don’t be surprised to see him leave. The fact is people want to win and if front offices can’t build around a star correctly they shouldn’t have to stay there when their contracts come up.
This was the first important offseason for the Bucks. They let Jabari walk and drafted Donte DiVincenzo, who fills the shooting the Bucks need. We’ll see if they make any moves during the season as they are still trying to move on from PFT’s second best friend Delly and his contract.
