College Football Trolling Season Is Upon Us

For those of you who don’t watch college football:

1. I feel really sorry for you

2. Last year’s CFP National Championship was absolutely incredible

For those who do love fun:

You’ll remember that Alabama beat Georgia to claim it all when Tua Tagovailoa threw a TD pass to DeVonta Smith on second-and-26 in OT. And, of course, that Nick Saban pulled Jalen Hurts (who was once a Heisman favorite) at half in favor of the true freshman.

Obviously, it worked out for the Crimson Tide.

I know a lot of people hated the idea of an SEC vs SEC title game. I didn’t. And it’s not because I used to work for the SEC Network or because I went to Texas A&M. I legitimately thought the two SEC teams were playing the best football of the four teams that made it in to the playoffs.

Hate to brag, I wasn’t wrong. It was epic. (FWIW: I think they should expand the playoffs. But I’ll save that for another day.)

I wrote earlier this week about how boring CFB media days can be. But the fans are the most entertaining part of the whole thing. They just stand in one place all day just hoping to see their coach or players.

I mean look at this…

Bananas.

Another positive for the same conference title game this year is that both fan bases have to be around each other at SEC Media Days. Naturally, Alabama fans would want to remind Georgia of the incredible touchdown in the Natty.

Troll game, so strong.

The closer you get to college football season, the louder the shit talk. It’s glorious.

I was at SEC Media Days the year after Auburn’s kick-six win over Alabama. Trust me, all of these people fucking hate each other. Even though the Bulldogs aren’t anywhere near Iron Bowl hate level, I can only imagine how much it sucks to be a Georgia fan in the building right now.

Despite the fanfare outside of the credentialed ropes, Nick Saban was up to his usual media antics today.

It was a un-Saban like move to bench his star QB in the middle of the game and even more un-Saban like to have another true freshman quarterback playing in the National Championship.

But, uh… yes, Coach Saban. The media pulled Jalen Hurts at halftime. Isn’t that how it works????

Regardless, Nick Saban is the GOAT. It’s honestly not even a conversation. And it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere, anytime soon.

I mean what else is there to say about a guy that’s the best of all time at coaching college football?

Atleast somebody in the TV truck is having fun.

I love you, college football.
