The Giants Drafted Western Michigan CB Sam Beal In The Supplemental Draft
Look at Dave Gettleman acquiring what some scouts are saying is the best player in the supplemental draft in years at a position that can always use more talent in a round that doesn’t exist for a pick in a round that doesn’t exist. Gettleman continues to play chess while the rest of the NFL plays checkers.
Hold on, what is what? I have some fresh intel coming in.
Okay, so it turns out the Giants gave up a 3rd rounder in next year’s draft for Beal. Will he be worth it? Only time will tell. Am I happy that hundreds of NFL writers can’t make jokes about how nobody was picked in the supplemental draft? Definitely. Beal’s YouTube highlight mixtape tells me that he may become a stud (even though all YouTube highlight mixtapes say that players will be studs)
He was the best corner in a conference full of #MACtion.
Made fans of other teams VERY upset that they missed out on him.
Is relatable because he fell behind some credits in college while also invoking the name Josh Gordon, which is usually a really good or really bad thing (it’s good in this scenario…I think).
Actually WANTS to play football, which believe it or not was the biggest weakness for the Giants secondary last year.
And he wears number 1, which is usually worn by only by the really good players starting all the way at the youth sports level. Again, only time will tell. But when your secondary’s success relies on a guy coming off a letdown season that also just had a murder occur in his home and Eli Apple figuring out how to become a pro 2 years after he got drafted, getting more talented bodies to throw at a potential problem position is not a bad strategy. Besides, what’s the worse that can happen with the Giants using the supplemental pick on a hyped player?

Be right back, I have to drink away the memories of those mid-90s Giants teams.
