FBI Agent Who Cut A Rug, Shot A Guy Gets Gun Privileges Back

We’ve all been there. It’s 1am and you’re light-headed & drunk on vacation in a high-altitude city. Jagged Edge’s 2001 hit Where The Party At? comes on & you lose all bodily control. Everyone is eating up your dance moves when you decide to blow their minds with a back-flip, but you end up blowing someone’s leg apart instead.

FBI Agent Chase Bishop, 29, knows this feeling well since it happened to him at Mile High Spirits Distillery in Denver last month. He turned himself in days later & was charged with 2nd degree assault, and the FBI released a statement saying they’d hold him accountable.

Hoe-leeeeee shit, I would not want to be that guy… pissing off your FBI bosses & embarrassing the agency in such a viral way? Whenever they decide the punishment it is going to be fucking bruta….

Oh.

Guess it helps that the man he shot, Tom Reddington, seems to have no ill will. In an interview with ABC news he said,

“There was no pointing. There was no aiming. I don’t blame the guy. I don’t want to ruin his life. I just want a private phone call from this guy.”

Tommmm… that there was no pointing or aiming is kind of the problem. And a few inches of a difference & he very well could have ruined/ended yours. Your balls were at stake & he shrugged and walked away. And he didn’t turn himself in until the following Tuesday. And has he even called you yet?! Sent an Edible Arrangement? A funny yet apologetic GIF? Anything? If a guy is gonna shoot his shot, he’ll call you within a week of the actual shot.

Maybe it’s the USMC memories floating back, but the smallest mistakes could destroy your career, especially if they made the Corps look bad (unless you’re a high ranking officer & have free reign for whatever). Even tiny offenses could warrant harsh, life changing punishments.. so I’m shocked at the speed with which this guy is allowed off the hook & able to carry again, both on and off duty.

Via the Denver Post, Bishop,

“had his protection order amended by a Denver judge during a Tuesday court appearance”, said Ken Lane, Denver District Attorney spokesman.

The amendment was modified to let Bishop carry his service weapon on and off duty, “so long as it is done in a manner pursuant to FBI policy,” Lane said.

All I can think is it has something to do with everyone being impressed with that backflip, regardless of the outcome.
