Kid Propped Up At His Wake With An XBox Controller, Doritos, And His Celtics Jersey Is Living His Best Life
WGNO - Renard Matthews was killed in New Orleans 2 weeks ago. He was a young 18 years old, and while the tragedy of losing him so young weighs heavy on his family, they chose to have his body prepared for Sunday afternoon’s wake in a way that they want to remember him.
At the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme, Matthews was sitting in a chair, video game controller in hand, surrounded by his favorite snacks, and his beloved Boston Celtics on the television screen.
These stories are funny every time. Not that he died, obviously, but when the family forgoes the open casket in favor of some ridiculous set up, it is funny 10 times out of 10. Let’s look at previous ones:
Who could forget the guy who played one last home game with all his pals?
.
And of course the guy who was propped up playing dominos, with a condom in his hand?
Just think about what is happening here. The people closest to him in his life put a condom between his fingers, sat him up in a chair at a dominos table, and invited people to say their final goodbyes. #FuneralGoals
.
And last but not least….
The guy who was thrown into a dark corner in a Walmart Green Lantern Halloween costume.
When I die, please put me in my maroon hoodie, fingers on my keyboard, feet propped up on my desk, typing a blog about RG3 or Alexis Ren while trying to get Coley to stop talking so loud.
