Kentucky Lady Tweets A Picture Of Herself After Gunning Down A Rare Black Giraffe And The Internet Is NOT Having It

Source -  Photos of a female hunter from Kentucky proudly showing off the results of her “dream hunt” – a dead black giraffe in South Africa – have ignited a firestorm across social media after being picked up by a local African media outlet.

The controversial images, which were posted by a Kentucky woman identified as Tess Thompson Talley a year ago, show her standing proudly beside a dead giraffe bull along with the caption: “Prayers for my once in a lifetime dream hunt came true today! Spotted this rare black giraffe bull and stalked him for quite a while. I knew it was the one. He was over 18 years old, 4000 lbs. and was blessed to be able to get 2000 lbs. of meat from him.”

Trophy hunting is a legal practice in a number of African countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. “This is called conservation through game management,” says Talley, who insists hers was not a “canned” hunt.

Nonetheless, the images have spurred deep emotions among those opposed to the controversial practice.

Listen, I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I know anything about conservation. I will, however, tell you that I accidentally shot a bird with a BB gun in seventh grade and still feel bad about it to this day. To my credit, it was a hell of shot. The only reason I pulled the trigger in the first place was because it was so far away that I didn’t think I’d hit it. Unfortunately for the bird, I did. That was the first and last hunting experience I’ve ever had. I thought about harvesting the meat but I had just eaten a blue freeze pop so I wasn’t hungry. #RIP. Anyway, I’ll never understand how someone can shoot something for fun. Especially something as harmless as a fucking giraffe. The Internet doesn’t either.

Ruthless. Even if I was a diehard conservationist I don’t think I’d be hopping on twitter throwing around death threats. That’s how you get reported.

Apparently #TessThompsonTalley has been an avid hunter since she was a young girl which makes it all the more fucked up. Join the cheerleading team or do Brownies, don’t shoot large animals for fun you wierdo. At least we can take solace in the fact that this giraffe is in heaven, right alongside Harambe and Cecil. RIP Black Giraffe. You will be missed.

PS: Shout out to Africa Digest for quite possibly the most ruthless headline of all time.

“White American savage who is partly a Neanderthal comes to Africa and shoot down a very rare black giraffe courtesy of South Africa stupidity,” read the June 2018 tweet, posted by Africa Digest. “Her name is Tess Thompson Talley. Please share.”
