I Am Incredibly Upset About How Dan Gilbert And Cleveland Is Handling LeBron Leaving

What the fuck is this? A fairly regular letter from Dan Gilbert? The Cleveland Plain-Dealer with a nice front page? People leaving thank you notes? Fuck that. This isn’t the Cleveland I’ve come to know and enjoy making fun of. This isn’t what I want to see even though it’s what they should be doing.

I think most people know I live in Cincinnati and therefore have been around a good handful of Cleveland fans in my 8+ years living here. One of those people includes my college roommate whom I watched The Decision with. It’s one of my favorite memories hanging out with him. Not saying a word after LeBron took his talents to Miami but instead just pouring two shots of bourbon and watching him go through the wide range of emotions after losing his city’s savior. It was wonderful.

That’s what I want. I wasn’t thrilled when talking to my friends from Cleveland that they were being rational. It’s not fun to be rational when you’re a sports fan. It’s fun to be a lunatic. So Cleveland, consider me disappointed in you. I think you’ve gone soft since you had success winning the 2016 NBA title and having the Indians make the World Series. I need the misery.

More importantly, I need the petty from Dan Gilbert. That’s who I’m most disappointed with here. There was the report that Gilbert secretly wanted Lebron to leave so he would have his team back. Well, that happened. The letter should have just been blasting LeBron for any of the signings he wanted to make. Not thanking him and retiring his number.
