Warning, Political Blog: Trump Says He Will Sign An Executive Order To Keep Families Together

The biggest story in politics for the past several days has been immigration and the current zero-tolerance policy that is separating families at the border. Parents out, children in. It’s gotten HEATED and understandably so. Rachel Maddow cried live on the air last night over it.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say: seeing Rach throw it to Lawrence O’Donnell really brought it back.

People are outraged and focusing that outrage almost exclusively on the White House. CNN writes:

Signing an executive order to reverse his own administration’s practice would also be unnecessary since almost everyone in Washington, apart from the President, agrees that he already has the power to end the separations any time he wants.

This one’s pretty simple. Children are awesome and completely innocent and not one single normal person wants to see them separated from their families. That’s not a partisan thing, that’s a human thing, as made clear by both the passionate reaction to this policy and today’s “reversal” by Trump. The nation gets it, the world gets it, and it seems like Trump too is at a point where he gets it. Yes we need to pass better and more comprehensive laws, but we also need to stop ripping families apart while we do that.

Families are sweet. Love families. Let’s keep families together.
