During a recent two-hour interview and green-screen video shoot with B/R Mag in Madrid, Doncic shared his vision of the next five years, cheerfully—and sometimes cheekily—indulging us with the life he wants to manifest. He seems undaunted by the 30-year age difference. Perhaps because his perception is based on a 1990s television character. Or perhaps because he’s just not easily intimidated. Not by childhood crushes or by fashion.
This is what teams should be talking about when it comes to Luka Doncic. Let’s stop talking about his EuroLeague MVP, EuroLeague Final Four MVP and EuroLeague title with Real Madrid. The time has come to discuss the confidence Doncic has. Shooting your shot at not only someone 30 years older than you, but to shoot it at Jennifer Aniston. That’s the type of confidence you need to be successful in this league.
Sure, Doncic could bring over some gorgeous European model. Sure, he could go after some A-list celebrity that’s his age. But Luka don’t play by no rules. Luka plays by prison rules. Find the biggest dude and go after him. He’s going after arguably the GOAT when it comes to female actresses. I mean if he can lead Slovenia to the EuroBasket title, he can surely land this:
OR a team may draft him because he’s already excellent in the high ball screen. He reads the ball screen extremely well and that’s where he’s a playmaker, something that he’s probably known best as. He’s played with NBA-type big men at Real Madrid in Anthony Randolph and Gustavo Ayon. In the pick and roll is where you see him use his size to create space and/or get to the rim. He’s also an incredibly skilled passer out of this set. He does an excellent job with his footwork to come off the screen and then plant and find either the roll or a wing after help dives in.
