Chugging Your Beer After Catching A Foul Ball Is The Only Unwritten Rule That Matters
You gotta give it up to baseball. After 200 years of boring unwritten rules that purists cry over, we finally have 1 that everyone can agree on- when you catch a foul ball in your beer, you chug it. This rule has developed slowly over time, but it’s finally caught on to the point where it’s a must-do, no matter what. We saw it last week with the Padres girl
we saw it yesterday at the Nats game, and we’re seeing it happen here and there around baseball, and it’s fantastic. Any time a league can have fun and be like “hey, drinking is fun!” (see: Stanley Cup, Capitals) then we are all better off. Lets step pretending the entire point of sitting outside on a Summer day watching baseball isn’t to get hammered and regret not wearing sunscreen. I don’t know how fans go to domes. Like sure, I understand “weather” and “nobody wants to sit in 110 degrees”, but it just ain’t the same.
So here’s to you, baseball fans. The foul ball beer chug is officially official.
Just don’t tell Brian McCann.

PS: I think you have to keep the ball in the cup, but that’s ok. It’s still early in the stages. Plus, can we really make unwritten rules about unwritten rules? (But seriously, keep the ball in the cup. It’s better that way.)
