(Source) It’s not a field, they say. It’s a factory. And the idea behind the Eastern Michigan football “factory,” as first-year head coach Chris Creighton likes to call it, was born in six inches of snow in February. “We were going to do one of our agility workouts in the bubble and we started ribbing the guys that, when we played, we’d be outside,” he said.

Soon enough, they were. “We threw some snowballs and we got after it,” Creighton said. “We had one of those workouts where you don’t forget it. “The message during that workout was, ‘We will play anyone, we will play anytime and we will play anywhere. We will play in a parking lot.’” And this upcoming season, the Eagles will play on a surface that looks like a parking lot. The school this afternoon formally announced plans to install a new gray FieldTurf surface at Rynearson Stadium. The cost is a little north of $500,000, EMU athletic director Heather Lyke said.

LOVE This move. No frills, no fuss, just football. If this isn’t MACtion I don’t know what is. Need every school in the conference to go gray. Just like Chris Creighton said, it’s not a field, it’s a factory, because who doesn’t think of Eastern Michigan and immediately think “FOOTBALL FACTORY”.  Chaz Batch? Ever heard of him? Only played like 40 seasons in the NFL. That’s just EMU, that’s just MACtion.
