The Philadelphia 76ers’ president of basketball operations, had been secretly operating five Twitter accounts. Since then, we have scrutinized and archived those accounts in an attempt to verify the source’s claims that the longtime NBA executive has been using them as a platform to:

Criticize NBA players, including Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, and Nerlens Noel

Publicly debate the decisions of his own coaching staff, as well as critique former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie and Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri

Telegraph the 2017 trade in which the Sixers acquired the no. 1 overall pick that would become Markelle Fultz

Disclose nonpublic medical information about Okafor and gossip about Embiid and Fultz to members of the national and Philadelphia media

The five accounts pinpointed by the unnamed source included one that followed media members, Sixers employees, and NBA agents but never tweets (its handle is @phila1234567, and it has no account name), and four that have posted tweets or replied to other users. Of those, one was active between April 2016 and May 2017 (its account name is Eric jr, and its handle is @AlVic40117560), two were active within the past five months (HonestAbe / @Honesta34197118 and Enoughunkownsources / @Enoughunkownso1), and one was posting several times a day (Still Balling / @s_bonhams) and as recently as last week.

Ok. There’s a LOT to go through here. My advice would be to read through the entire thing, but everyone should come through the same conclusion: This is bad. Like, real bad. We’ve seen burner accounts like Kevin Durant defending himself or every single Michael Rappaport “fan” on social media, but nothing like this. Those morons weren’t destructive to anyone other than themselves. Colangelo, however, is responsible for an entire franchise’s motherfucking future. And he’s worried about his image and attempting to manipulate the press half-assed via Twitter instead of doing his job? Unacceptable. SAM HINKIE DIDN’T DIE FOR THIS.

Somehow the first thing that stuck out to me was his amateur attempt at a handle: @Phila123456??? Really???? That’s the burner account you went with????? We’re in some deep shit if Bryan Colangelo, the Sixers GM who is arguably the most important person in Philadelphia sports at the moment, decided to go with that egg-worthy Twitter handle to slyly give up inside information and control the press. So, so sadly accurate:

And that’s just one of his 5, count ‘em, FIVE burner accounts on Twitter that we know of. With that one and the others, he’s trashed Embiid, Hinkie, Fultz, the coach Brett Brown, but heroically defended not only himself at every corner, but his shirt collars to a one “@Philly_Asshole”. Yup. That happened.

Actually unreal stuff. If everything is true, I would venture to say this is a fireable offense. You can’t trash your own guy like this and troll your way on social media as GM. You just can’t. Not to mention, if everything is accurate, this is DEFINITELY the tip of the iceberg. Things are gonna get a lot more interesting before they get resolved.

What’s hilarious about Bryan Colangelo’s burner accounts is they were easily the ONLY Twitter handles out there with Philly IP addresses bashing Sam Hinkie and praising Colangelo. If anything, I’m shocked it took 2 years for him to be discovered. Sweet fucking hand picked GM to make the NBA look respectable, Adam Silver. Thanks.

PS – Nostradamous JoJo…

PPS – For real, Joel. For real. BRUH.

PPPS – It’ll never happen, but can you imagine when (not if) Colangelo gets canned if Sam Hinkie actually rises from the dead and leads the Sixers to a title? I will convert to whatever religion you want.
