I Can't Believe Today Is The Day

Maybe it hasn’t been quite 84 years, but it certainly feels like it. It’s been a long, longgggg 20 years since the Caps made the Stanley Cup, a sweep from the mighty Red Wings. Two decades later, things are a lot different. Instead of being led by Bondra, the Caps are led by Ovechkin. Instead of Juneau, it’s Kuzy. And instead of Kolzig, in Holtby we trust.

It’s hard to believe that after all the disappointment, all the “Caps will never make it out of the 2nd round” jokes/narratives, all the “Ovi isn’t a winner” bullshit, the Caps are now 4 wins away from a Stanley Cup.

It certainly won’t be easy- Vegas is great. They’ve blown by everyone in their path. They’d had much more rest, and have home ice.

But this Caps team is different. Went down 2-0 to Columbus, won. Went into Pittsburgh, won. And then beat Tampa in game 7 in Tampa. I can’t pick against the Caps. Not this year. And not to an expansion team.

I’ve picked Caps in 5 in every series, and I’m not stopping now. Caps in 5. I’ll see you in a few hours, Vegas.
