NBA Draft: Top-25 Prospect Keita Bates-Diop Forced To The Floor Due To Back Spasms

Now, I know this isn’t huge news for a majority of people, but for those that are NBA fans and NBA Draft fans, this is significant. Keita Bates-Diop is one of the consensus 25 – he’s No. 20 on my big board – players in the upcoming draft. He has great size, can really shoot the ball and is a strong rebounder. With the move to today’s game being focused on versatility, Bates-Diop brings just that as you can play him at the 3 or 4 spot and can switch most screens.

However, this is something that will be talked about within front office circles and NBA Draft circles for the next month – the draft is on June 21. If back spasms continue, Bates-Diop could fall potentially. We’ve seen guys fall due to injuries that weren’t really discussed at length (think opposite of Harry Giles). Bates-Diop could fall into that category with something like this, which could make him an even bigger steal.

Bates-Diop would be a great fit for a team like Minnesota, Portland or Chicago in the mid-late first round. This is just something to keep an eye on. Bates-Diop was working out with PJ Washington, Chime Metu, Mutapha Heron, Matt Mobley and Shamorie Ponds for Utah.
