The Cleveland Indians Won Their 22nd Consecutive Game By Tying It In The Ninth And Walking Off In Extra Innings

Kansas City Royals v Cleveland Indians

Baseball’s fucking awesome. Take a good look, everybody. You’re probably never going to see a winning streak like this ever again in Major League Baseball. This is officially the longest winning streak in the history of professional baseball. The 1916 New York Giants had a 26-game “unbeaten” streak, but that’s because they had a tie mixed in there. Fuck ties. The 2017 Cleveland Indians can officially claim the longest winning streak in the history of the sport, and that, my friends, is an incredible fucking feat considering that baseball was invented in eighteen-fucking-thirty-nine.

Progressive Field was rocking just like they were in Game 7 of the World Series last October. The city of Cleveland knew how good this Tribe team was all year, but now the whole world knows. Enough of the “they’re peaking too soon” bullshit. There’s no such thing as winning too much. And the most terrifying part about this? They’re only going to keep getting better. They went on this entire run without Andrew Miller, Michael Brantley, Danny Salazar and Jason Kipnis. Miller was activated today, Kipnis is coming back on Sunday to play centerfield, Salazar is working out of the bullpen, and while Brantley’s return is a little more unclear, it sounds like they’re at least hoping that he’ll be able to return at some point before the end of the year.

Shouts to Tito Francona. How soon before the American League Manager of the Year award gets named after that beautiful, bald-headed bastard?
