This Response To My Facebook Post Is A Case Study In How Dumb People Write Hit Pieces On Barstool Sports

Have you ever wondered how hit pieces against Barstool Sports start?

Very rarely, they are deserved.

Most often, they come because of a simple misunderstanding – us being sarcastic and satirical and joking around, and Serious People Of The Internet taking every word we say as fact.

These are people who know nothing about Barstool or anything about what we’re all about, which is a site for people to come and laugh and escape their real lives for a bit.

But if you don’t know us, or worse, if you hate us and are looking at us through the lens of an agenda or a narrative, there are plenty of blogs you can pick from to cherrypick out certain sections and tweet them out to your followers with some OUTRAGE!

Dave’s always used the analogy of walking into a standup comedy show, listening to 10 minutes of the set, then leaving and tweeting out the joke verbatim out of context as if it’s a statement of fact, and not a bit in a comedy show.

Enter Jackie Stokes, who I sourced in my story earlier about the creepy douche Facebook engineer who used personal information and data to stalk women, according to her screenshots.

Here’s the blog in full.

NY POST – Facebook on Thursday said that it fired an employee accused of bragging on matchmaking app Tinder about his access to private user information.

The incident comes as Facebook faces global concerns about personal data privacy, including Congressional hearings at which Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg testified.

A Twitter user earlier on Wednesday posted here about the Tinder conversation along with screenshots, saying Facebook’s security engineer is “likely using privileged access to stalk women online”.

In the unverified screenshot, the employee in question writes of being a “professional stalker” searching for hackers.

I’ve been out of the dating game for a while and my game was never described as “air tight” to begin with, but I still gotta imagine this is not the preferred pickup line for the new generation?

I mean normally you could play that off as a harmless joke. Unfortunately when your company has been all over the news for the past month for literally stealing data and mis-uing personal information, it loses a little bit of the cuteness factor. The entire Cambridge Analytica company just shut down because no one would work with them anymore following their little data harvesting situation. Zuck is getting grilled by Congress and issued warnings from Parliament for not meeting with British MPs. Now is not the time to be bragging about stalking women, Security Guy!

Despite all that, I DO think the whole Facebook security engineer position is an absolute panty dropper – once you get to the know the person. Like you can’t lead off with “I know where you live and what your favorite books are and that your favorite movie in college was Boondock Saints.” But once you’ve been on a few dates, have had a few sleepovers, actually like the person and a relationship seems imminent – dropping the knowledge on them that you can see any and everyone’s personal information is HUGE for a chick. Ex-boyfriend user info and location, secrets about all your girl frenemies, blackmail material for the bitch ahead of you on the work totem pole. Girls love that shit. Just gotta wait to unleash it at the right time.

Great blog.

Jackie didn’t like it.

Here’s the best part:

“Yeah, because context totally changes things”  Hahaha.

Uh, yeah, it does, buddy.

Blog = fact, real opinion, joke.

Tweet clip from Jackie Stokes:  joke, with no context.

Hmmm do ya think the full context changes anything?

If you’re ever wondering why the internet is no fun, and where all the pitchfork mobs come from with all their mock outrage, and how there are so many vocal minorities stomping their feet and yelling about shit on Twitter – here’s your exhibit A.
