Projected Over/Under Bets For Every NBA Team For The 2018-19 Season

So this was posted right before Rough n Rowdy yesterday and we have some official over/under numbers for the NBA season. Perhaps you have a few extra bucks from betting your buddies that Gay Pat would win and are looking for some futures. So we’ll take a quick look at every team and decide over or under. Let me know your favorite over/under bet.

Eastern Conference:

Boston Celtics (57.5)
Pick: Under – There’s no doubt the Celtics are going to be good this year. There’s no doubt they are the favorite to come out of the East. That said, 58 wins is going to be a tall order for this team as they have to incorporate Hayward into the lineup.

Toronto Raptors (54.5)
Pick: Over –
This team won 59 games last year and got arguably better by bringing in Kawhi for DeRozan. That’s ultimately the key here. If Kawhi is healthy and playing like Kawhi, over hits with ease. If he’s hurt. sitting out, etc, it’s the under. I’m banking on him being healthy combined with the bench being made for the regular season.

Philadelphia 76ers (54.5)
Pick: Under – This was one of the tougher picks for me. The Sixers won 52 last year and you assume another year of Embiid and Simmons playing together should help and win 3 more games. That said, I still don’t love the roster makeup here and have questions on the wing, so we’ll go under.

Indiana Pacers (47.5)
Pick: Over –
One of my favorite rosters this year is the Indiana Pacers. They somewhat remind me of the Raptors from last year in terms of having a bench that is made for the regular season. I think you see Oladipo have another big year, so I’ll take the over.

Milwaukee Bucks (46.5)
Pick: Over –
I know they lost Jabari Parker, but the additions of Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo address two serious needs. The question will be whether or not is will there be enough shooting around Giannis to help him out. The Bucks won 44 last year, I’ll take the over this year.

Washington Wizards (44.5)
Pick: Under – Dwight. Howard.

Miami Heat (41.5)
Pick: Over –
I’m at the point where I’ll blindly trust Spo’s team to make the playoffs and be a .500 team. They won 44 games last year and bring back the exact same roster as that team. I’m going to go crazy here and assume they win 44 games next year too.

Detroit Pistons (37.5)
Pick: Over –
If Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson can stay healthy this team will hit the over. We rarely got to see the two of them together last season after Blake got traded. In the East this year I’ll trust the 3 of Jackson/Blake/Drummond with Dwane Casey getting to 38 wins.

Charlotte Hornets (35.5)
Pick: Under –
This is another one that I really struggled with. Cody Zeller missed about 15 games last year and getting him back may help get that extra win or two. You have a new coach coming in and front office. However, I’m going to take a shot here and say that Kemba gets traded with the Hornets struggling early.

Brooklyn Nets (32.5)
Pick: Over –
The Nets aren’t going to tank and despite trading Jeremy Lin brought in some more talent that can help them win now, despite not being a contender. The Nets brought in Ed Davis, Shabazz Napier and Jared Dudley. For a team that won 28 games last year, I actually think they’ll be okay this year – 35 wins or so.

Orlando Magic (31.5)
Pick: Under –
Speaking of roster makeup, I just don’t get this team. They have so many bigs and not a whole lot of spacing. They won 25 games last season and don’t see them making the jump to 32 this year, even if Isaac is healthy.

Cleveland Cavs (30.5)
Pick: Over –
I actually think they are a bit underrated here. The Cavs will play with a chip on their shoulder all year trying to prove they can win without LeBron, even though they won’t be great. However, 34 wins or so feels about right for this team. They’ll compete late in the year even out of the playoff hunt.

New York Knicks (29.5)
Pick: Under –
There’s no guarantee Kristaps will be healthy for the start of the season and it’s unknown when he’ll return to the court this year. Despite having future 1st ballot Hall of Famer Kevin Knox, I think this team just missed the 29.5 line, winning 28-29 games. If Kristaps is healthy, this goes over.

Chicago Bulls (27.5)
Pick: Over –
A second year of Lauri combined with the additions of Wendell Carter, Chandler Hutchison and Jabari Parker is something to help get over that number. The biggest question will be the backcourt play of Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine and if they can be consistent at all.

Atlanta Hawks (23.5)
Pick: Under –
The Hawks are going to fun to watch this year with them trying to mimic the Warriors style of spreading everyone out, but the difference is they aren’t a good defensive team. I like this young core and think they have a core to build around over the next few years, but this year is going to be a long season.

Western Conference

Golden State Warriors (62.5)
Pick: Under –
I know they were injured last year and that was part of the reason as to why the Warriors ended up winning just 58 games. That said, a deeper Western Conference, the Warriors don’t necessarily care about the 1 seed, so you can see them sitting guys out when they can. Remember, Boogie won’t likely play until January or so.

Houston Rockets (54.5)
Pick: Over –
The Rockets did lose two key pieces in Ariza and Mbah a Moute, but taking an 11-game dropoff? I don’t see that happening. Not with Harden and Paul. Not with Morey saying the key to beating the Warriors is getting homecourt. The Rockets will try as hard as possible for that No. 1 seed.

Oklahoma City Thunder (50.5)
Pick: Over –
I actually think the return of Andre Roberson is wildly important and not being talked about enough. Yes, he stinks offensively, but defensively he’s that much of a game changer. The addition of Nerlens Noel and Denis Schroder help the bench too.

Los Angeles Lakers (48.5)
Pick: Under –
We just don’t know what to expect with this team. Yeah, LeBron is ridiculously good, but how will the rest of the roster fit around him? Will they run the small ball lineup with LeBron at the 5 and surround him with Ingram, Ball, Hart and Kuzma? I’m going to take just under 48.5 for year 1.

Utah Jazz (48.5)
Pick: Over –
The Jazz should take another jump in year 2 with Donovan Mitchell. They won 48 last year and despite the West being even better, the Jazz should get 1 more win. Remember, Rudy Gobert only played in 56 games last year. If he can stay healthy, this team should easily win 49.

Denver Nuggets (47.5)
Pick: Over –
Another team that I just really love the core of. They have that young trio of Murray, Harris and Jokic is one of the best young cores in the group. Paul Milsap only played in 38 games last year as well. He should help improve that 46-36 record.

New Orleans Pelicans (45.5)
Pick: Under –
Anthony Davis is absolutely incredible. But, the lost of DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo is pretty important here. I like their ability to go small and think they’ll make the playoffs, but their point differential last year makes me think there could be a couple losses this year.

Minnesota Timberwolves (44.5)
Pick: Under –
I just don’t see it with this team. They have no clue exactly what they want to do and there’s plenty of arguing within the locker room. Let’s not rule out the chance Jimmy Butler gets traded (I don’t think he does though). I know Butler missed 23 games last year, but they just don’t have that chemistry nor do I really trust Rose playing serious minutes.

San Antonio Spurs (43.5)
Pick: Over –
Yeah, I’m just going to blindly trust Pop here. I mean, they didn’t have Kawhi last year and they still won 47 games. I’ll take the over every time until Pop retires.

Portland Trail Blazers (41.5)
Pick: Over –
The Blazers won 49 last year and I don’t see them losing 9 more games this season. Lillard and McCollum tend to be awesome during the regular season, somewhat similar to the Lowry/DeRozan feel out with the Raptors the last few years.

Los Angeles Clippers (35.5)
Pick: Over –
The Clippers were in the playoff hunt last season until the last week or so of the year. That said, they’ll have a healthy Gallo this year and that backcourt with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson should add some depth and scoring.

Dallas Mavericks (34.5)
Pick: Over –
Bringing in Luka Doncic and DeAndre Jordan to a team that won just 24 games last season. The question will be can they stay healthy and compete enough to win 10 more games – granted they tanked a bit last season. I think they just get over the number here while missing the playoffs.

Memphis Grizzlies (34.5)
Pick: Over –
Another team that I wasn’t sure what to do here. Can Gasol and Conley stay healthy? Will Jaren Jackson live up to the hype? They sure seem trying to win now, so I’ll just gamble that Gasol and Conley stay healthy and they just miss the playoffs, similar to the Mavs.

Phoenix Suns (28.5)
Pick: Under –
Again, I like the young core here with the likes of Ayton, Booker, Okobo and Bridges. But, year 1 with all those guys and bringing in Trevor Ariza? This feels like a team that will compete in most games and lose a lot of close ones. I’ll go under here.

Sacramento Kings (25.5)
Pick: Over –
I’m going with the over here for one reason and one reason only. The Kings have no reason to tank. They don’t have their pick, so there’s no reason to sit guys. I’ll go over with them getting to that number very late in the year when other teams are tanking.
