....Bryce Harper Turned Down 45 Million PER YEAR From The Dodgers?

Please tell me this isn’t true, Bryce. The smart people of the internet have already figured out that your outrageous 13-year, $330 million contract isn’t that great when you really break it down. Manny Machado got a higher annual average, and Mike Trout will shatter every record whenever he decides it’s time. And then Mookie Betts and Francisco Lindor will do it again. And the reason is because as time goes on, this deal is going to become less and less relevant. He gambled AGAINST himself. He took the long, long, long-term deal because it is safe. But to the benefit of his doubt, at least it seemed like it was his best offer. Well this completely changed when it was reported that Dodgers offered him a 4-year, $45 million PER YEAR deal.

Oh my goodness. This, folks, is why you don’t get your GED after your sophomore year to be eligible for the MLB Draft. EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT. $45 million would be the highest per year average ever. Ever! And with a 4-year deal, he would only need to sign a deal worth about $16 million per year over the next 9 years to match his $330 million deal he signed yesterday. That’s chump change for a name like Bryce Harper. All it meant was that Bryce had to stay away from being completely terrible for the next four years, which should also be the prime of his career. And when presented with that scenario, Bryce Harper said…..

Idiot. What an idiot. In a couple years, his yearly average salary with the Phillies is going to be irrelevant. But after a 4-year $180 million deal with the Dodgers, his hair and eye black alone would be enough to sign a $16 million per year deal. And we aren’t even factoring in the LA market that he would be playing in, which would do wonders for his dollars off the field, too. I know it may not do much for his in-game production (which already kinda stinks), but the no-winning / big money opportunities are endless out in Hollywood!

Sheeeesh. He could be swimming in the money. But I guess one argument could be that he doesn’t care about the money? And he only cares about winning baseball games? Well then forget the Dodgers, Giants, and Nationals. There’s no better place to go than Philly!
