The Barstool Idol Contestants Blogged Today....Let's Recap How They Did
We are halfway done with Idol Week at Barstool and only 5 contestants remain. So today we had them get back to the basics and do what Dave founded this website on- blogging. The ol’ bread and butter of Barstool Sports. So could our remaining guys get their fingers dirty on the keyboard and give us some good written content? We found out.
Blog 1 – Barstool Idol Anonymous Blog #1 – Katie Holmes is Just Like Us! She Takes the Subway!
This was written by Dean and there is no better way to make your presence felt on Barstool Sports than a blog about Katie Holmes riding a train. Some guys just know what our readers want, I guess. The readers seemed to disagree though, sad!
Blog 2 – Barstool Idol Anonymous Blog #2 – I Am Genetically Gifted
I had to think hard about who wrote this, but I think it was Chef. This blog was a roller coaster, we’re talking Wilmer Valdarrama, chapstick, the Steelers, and oyster crackers. All over the map. Good thing the man can cook up a mean crabcake sandwich.
Blog 3 – Barstool Idol Anonymous Blog #3 – The Purge: Barstool Edition
The guy who beat up Tex and put himself through a table now wrote about murdering everyone in the office. Very on brand imo. He also spelled Feits’ name “Feitelburg” about 15 times. I mean yeah he’s only been working for Barstool for 10 years, so it’s understandable to get that wrong. To be honest, this read more of a fantasy than a comedy blog, which scares me.
Blog 4 – Barstool Idol Anonymous Blog #4 – I Think Manu Ginobili Announced His Retirement Last Night
Kyle did something interesting here. He did a sports topic from last night, made a few jokes about it, put in a throwback video at the end, and said blog over. He even formatted it like how blogs on Barstool Sports dot com are usually formatted. Bizarre. The haiku was a bit strange, but all in all, it seems this ridiculous way of writing a blog worked.

Blog 5 – Barstool Idol Anonymous Blog #5 – The Five Pictures in Every Girl’s Dating Profile
Big Ging wrote this one, and though some would say it’s “Buzzfeedy” (RIP), you at least have to appreciate he put effort and didn’t spell everything completely wrong. Huge points there. Has this blog been done 100 times before? Yes, but to be fair to him, the original blog he sent me was from a 3 year old story, so it could have been worse.
So all in all, an interesting day on Barstool DMV. I haven’t a clue how these blogs will play into the elimination tonight and going foward, but I think we all learned a lot about the writing abilities of our guys. And while I enjoyed the day of simply copy and pasting their blogs and formatting them a bit, I look forward to getting back to the grind tomorrow.
