FULL VIDEO EPISODE: Bengals Kicker Evan McPherson Doesn't Have Joe Burrow's Phone Number
On today's Pardon My Take... CJ UZOMAH AND EVAN MCPHERSON! The Cincinnati Bengals Tight End and Kicker joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter in Los Angeles to preview Super Bowl LVI, the playoff run for their team, Harambe, and Joe Burrow. Speaking of QB1, the guys were preparing to FaceTime Burrow on today's show, when it was revealed that Evan McPherson actually does not have his QB's number in his phone. The way this was discovered actually ended up being pretty funny. Take a look:
Mr. Cat: CJ, you have Joe Burrow saved as Joey Franchise on your phone. Because you, I read the story that you went to text him, and you couldn't find his number?
CJ Uzomah: Yeah, I was an idiot. I was like, "Where is your number?" And then I typed in "franchise," and I was like, "I should probably change that. I'm not going to, but…" I'm going to put in quotes, like, "Burrow." Type in "B," oh nice, alright cool, you're there. You know what I'm saying? I can't now.
Mr. Commenter: What if somebody finds your phone and they're like, "Oh, it's Joe Burrow." You have to have a little bit of security, right?
CJ Uzomah: I guess that's true, but maybe I should do that for everyone then.
The guys then go back and forth about who is going to proceed and FaceTime Joe Burrow
Mr. Cat: That's okay if he doesn't answer. Evan probably doesn't have his number…
CJ Uzomah: Do you have his number?
Mr. Cat: Really? It does feel, and this is a compliment, CJ, I know you're a humble guy, but it does feel like watching the Bengals, Joe Burrow is the leader but CJ is kind of the heartbeat. Is that fair to say?
Evan McPherson: That's fair to say.
Mr. Cat: Yeah, I mean, everything I've seen…
Evan McPherson: Maybe like the energy, you know?
Mr. Cat: The energy.
Mr. Commenter: Who is the soul of the team? … Harambe, that was a dumb question.
Mr. Cat: You got to get Joe Burrow's number, Evan. Come on.
CJ Uzomah: Do you really not have his number?
Evan McPherson: No.
CJ Uzomah: Do you want me to send it to you?
Evan McPherson: You think me and Joe Burrow… you think we just text all the time?
CJ Uzomah: I don't text him too much, I'll text him random stuff.
Mr. Cat: You should text him on Sunday morning, be like, "Good luck today."
Our crew was talking about it afterwards, and while this may seem unique at a first glance, is it crazy to think that this is the same situation for some other starting quarterbacks and kickers around the league? I'm sure veterans have each other's numbers, but this is Evan McPherson's rookie season, after all. If the former Florida Gator were to make some more big kicks during the biggest game in the world in two days, I'm sure he will get the chance to trade digits with Joe Burrow.
