F1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo Explains What Makes A Good Party Shirt

On today's Pardon My Take... DANIEL RICCIARDO! The F1 driver joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter to discuss a plethora of topics, including the Australian's "Honey Badger" nickname, Bills Mafia, using an iPod, and much more. Another fun topic that was discussed on the podcast was party shirts. That's right, party shirts. It is exactly what it sounds like - shirts that you party in. What goes into a decision for a party shirt and what qualifies as one? We get our answers below:

Mr. Cat: Can you explain to us what makes a good party shirt, a party shirt?

Daniel Ricciardo: Alright, so, you know it when you see it. You know, some people will wear, they call it, "Party Shirt," but it's not, it's like an old, Hawaiian dad shirt or something. Whether the buttons are too big, or the flowers just aren't the right flower, I don't know. So, you just know it when you see it. But when you see a good party shirt, it's magical.

Mr. Cat: How many party shirts do you own? How many top tier, "I trust this party shirt for my best parties" party shirts do you own?

Daniel Ricciardo: I mean, I would own, probably like 15. And I would be confident with a dozen of them.

Mr. Cat: OK, and there's one in your mind though that you're like, "If I get invited to the No. 1, A1 party, this is the party shirt."

Daniel Ricciardo: I mean, I recently got one with like these two beautiful unicorns on it. I think they're unicorns, and it's just majestic, so that's my newest favorite one.

Mr. Cat: Do you feel like Superman going into the phone booth when you putt on your party shirt? Have you ever put on a party shirt and it hasn't been a party? Just to take it for like a test drive?

Daniel Ricciardo: Yeah, exactly. If you're like a little bit apprehensive, you're warming into the environment. But I think, most importantly, a party shirt, it's how you wear it. And if you wear it with confidence, and if you also don't take it too seriously, then you're going to pull it off nine times out of ten.

Mr. Cat: I just love the way you see party.

Mr. Commenter: Do you have an all-time favorite, maybe a shirt that you've worn out, had a great time partying in, and then you've decided it's time to retire this one? Like, you've had a great career, let's hang it from the rafters. Or, do you keep. a shirt like that around, because that's now your lucky party shirt?

Daniel Ricciardo: I mean, that's such a good question. So, I mean, so as everyone probably thinks, I'm always wearing these colorful party shirts. But actually, when in doubt, I'm like, I just have my trusty black T-shirt and that's like that's my go to. And that's obviously seen a lot of good nights out. So, I haven't retired yet. It's still going strong. And I probably had that one for I think like, 2015. So yeah, it hasn't shrunk too much in the wash. That one's solid.

Mr. Commenter: That one's seen some shit.

Mr. Cat: Yeah, if you ever want to retire a party shirt, you can send it to us, we'll frame it and put it up in our studio. We'll be like, "You see that? That's Daniel Ricciardo's party shirt. It has seen some shit."

I know little to nothing about F1, but I am now officially a huge fan of Daniel Ricciardo. And I assume his fan base has grown significantly after this fun interview on Pardon My Take. I highly recommend listening to the entirety of this one.
