Venezuelan Prisons: Actually Bad
A couple months ago a few ex-Green Berets took a play right out of a bad Ben Affleck movie and tried to overthrow Nicolas Maduro's shitty government down there in Venezuela.
It went about as you'd expect when you take 60 poorly trained mercenaries and throw them at an entire government and Ben Affleck isn't there to save your ass. I wrote about this back in may, read it here.

This guy is former Green Beret Jordan Goudreau, founder and CEO of Silvercorp USA, a private security contracting firm much like Blackwater or whatever it is called now. Jordan wasn't actually at the coup attempt, though, CEOs don't do that sort of thing I guess. The two US men arrested alongside the Venezuelan mercenaries were Airan Berry and Luke Denman.
As things go in dictatorships, the men were put on trial behind closed doors and recently sentenced to 20 years in a Venezuelan prison. To be honest, 20 years doesn't seem too bad when you think they tried to topple a government by kidnapping the dictator (who had a $15 million bounty on his head from the US government). But then you remember this is Venezuelan prison, and that ain't nothin to fuck with.
That looks fucking horrible, and those guys got 20 years in there. President Trump's administration did say they're going to do everything they can to get them out of there and I hope they succeed, but Maduro isn't exactly our #1 fan.
