This Lehigh Lacrosse Goal Is Just Preposterous
March Madness isn’t just for college basketball. The college lacrosse season is well underway at this point and we may have an early candidate for Goal of the Year here out of Lehigh’s senior attackman Reid Weber. You’d expect a goal like this to come from somebody with the last name of Gait maybe. Or maybe somebody of Iroquois decent. But nope. This is just Reid Weber out of Germantown Academy doing the thing. Army ended up taking the win on the day 13-10 but that’s all besides the point. Because this goal was just down right disrespectful to our future service men.
For anybody who has been following, the 2016 College Lacrosse season has already been as fucking bizarre as ever. Maryland has dropped some games already, North Carolina have dropped 3 already. Duke picked up a big win over Loyola yesterday but they’ve already dropped games to Richmond and Harvard this year. I know that it’s a patented Duke move to make everybody count them out early in the year just to come back and be in the Final Four in May. But I really don’t think they have it in them this season. Mainly because they made the switch to these shit STX helmets.
Despite losing a 1-goal game to Penn State yesterday, Harvard has been putting together a pretty good season. The Ivy League in general has been taking over. There are 3 Ivy schools in the top 10 right now (Yale, Brown, Harvard) and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these nerds make it to Memorial Day. Speaking of Memorial Day, we have a preview of the potential National Championship match up today with #1 Notre Dame taking on #2 Denver at 5:30 on ESPNU. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Denver repeat as Champions again this year. They’re too efficient with the ball on offense to lose games. They don’t force bad passes, they don’t take bad shots. They have the perfect blend of Canadians and Americans to make their offense work and the only defense you can play against them is just close your eyes and hope.
