Former NHLer Ryan Smyth Got Buried By Some Goon In A Beer League Game
Ryan Smyth spent almost 20 seasons in the NHL. All but 5 of them with the Edmonton Oilers so I guess you could argue that for some of those years, he was more or less playing on a glorified Beer League team. But still. Almost 20 seasons in the NHL and he racked up 386 career goals and 842 career points. Guy had a great career so you’d think he’d be comfortable with his playing days being behind him. But some dudes just have too much COMPETE and HEART coursing through their veins that they can’t just give up the game. If they don’t have a team to surround themselves with, then what the frig is the point of living? So it’s because of that right there that Ryan Smyth has found himself playing for the Stony Plain Eagles. A team in the Chinook Hockey League which is a Canadian AAA Senior league. So obviously it’s a little more competitive than your standard beer league but it’s senior hockey nonetheless. Anyway, Ryan Smyth just isn’t ready for life without hockey. But he might be with it for a while after taking this vicious hit to the head the other night.

I mean that’s about as chicken shit of a move as they come. Goal is scored, light goes off, hit is made. Grocery stick over there was probably just getting sick of getting schooled by Smyth all night and took out his frustrations in the cheapest way possible. What a cock sucker. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but from the video evidence above, I can confirm that this dude sucks cock. It’s late, it’s high, it looks like he leaves his feet before contact. That’s the kind of guy who deserves to leave the ice in a bodybag. Which is why I’m equally as disgusted at Smyth’s teammates for their piss poor display of Ferda-ship. The hit is disgusting, yes, but so is the fact that nobody on his team decided to throw down with that plug immediately. Just a lot of pushing and shoving and yapping. Have some fucking pride, boys. I know it’s just a senior league and nobody wants to throw down in an adult league. But sometimes duty calls. If I’m Ryan Smyth and I watch this clip next week once I’m allowed to do anything besides be in a dark room again, I’m looking to join a new squad immediately.
