Thursday Homestretch
Not a ton of positives to speak of on this rainy Thursday… Apologies for the random negative stories.
Stocks lower for the sixth straight day, extending the longest losing streak of Trump’s presidency and coming on the heels of Wednesday’s third-worst Dow Jones point decline in history.
Today, energy shares plunged and a rally in tech failed to lift the broader market. The dollar fell with oil, Treasuries rose and gold posted its biggest gain since May 2017.
Nasdaq showing some small outperformance, but tech has taken its lumps so far this October because bond yields have climbed in recent weeks, hovering at a more-than-seven-year high… Although that’s largely because the US economy is so strong, the spike in rates for the benchmark US 10-Year has investors wondering if the near-decade-old bull market may finally be ending.
I get angry when I see tourists come to New York and eat at places like Subway or Pizza Hut (or Sbarros for fans of “The Office”) when they are only a stone’s throw away from either a deli or pizzeria that would give them authentic NY food at a comparable price… Add Pret to that list.

Their loaves of bread are partially baked in a factory in France, shipped frozen, and kept frozen for up to a year before being sold. On top of that, 2 people recently died after eating their sandwiches due to allergic reactions to dairy and sesame.
Stay the fuck away.
Celebrity Birthday- I missed it, but Tuesday was John Lennon’s birthday, and his name popped up again after Robbie wrote an interesting blog yesterday about Yoko Ono.
For the uninitiated, Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, and peace activist who co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music… And he didn’t celebrate his 78th birthday Tuesday because he was murdered in 1980.
Yoko Ono was Lennon’s second wife, and her voice sounds like 2 Chinese cats fucking in a suitcase.

So now that you’re all caught up, the last thing I will mention is that John Lennon was a douchebag.
The gentle icon that hippies worship was actually a man with very serious psychological problems who often flew into uncontrollable fits of rage which he took out on the women in his life. His first wife Cynthia and his second, Yoko, were both victims of Lennon’s brutality at one point or another.
In a 1980 Playboy interview, John said, “All that ‘I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved’ was me. I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically — any woman.”
Which is douchey enough, but he went on to say, “I was a hitter. I couldn’t express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women. That is why I am always on about peace, you see. It is the most violent people who go for love and peace.”
He also abused his son Julian, both physically and psychologically. So much so, Julian said that Paul McCartney was more of a father than Lennon was.
On top of all this, there are reports of his infidelity, depression, questionable political views, and rampant drug use, but I personally give him a pass for all that shit because that is just par for the course for musicians, I suppose.
But a weaselly looking Limey fuck, who likes to push around kids and women doesnt get a pass. Fuck that guy… I am glad he is dead.

Save the Date!- Former Carolina Panthers first-round pick, wide receiver Rae Carruth, is slated to be released from prison on October 22nd after spending more than 17 years in prison.
Carruth was convicted on conspiracy to commit the murder of Cherica Adams back in 1999.
Adams, 24, was shot four times by Van Brett Watkins, a homey of Carruth and local nightclub owner. Cherica was eight months pregnant with Carruth’s child at the time of the shooting.
Rae’s unborn child, named Chancellor Lee Adams, survived the shooting but suffered permanent brain damage and cerebral palsy. Cherica died a short while following the shooting, at which point Carruth turned himself in. He was ultimately sentenced to 18-to-24 years in prison.
FOX Sports recently signed Carruth to a 3 year contract, effective upon his release. He will co-host an NFL post-game wrap-up called the “Killer Rays”… Ray Rice was said to have been in contention for the gig, but his resumé seemed “incomplete.”
So… Monday, October 22nd, I am hosting a party outside of Rae’s correctional facility. It’s BYOBODS (bring you own bag of dog shit to throw at him), and then we’ll all head back to my place to watch Giants at Falcons on MNF.
