Hassan Whiteside Reportedly Bought A $50,000 Assault Rifle Then Immediately Had It Stolen From His Unlocked Car
Source- Heat center Hassan Whiteside had a bizarre incident over the summer involving a high-powered gun. According to exclusively-obtained police reports, Whiteside bought a $50,000 Colt M16 assault rifle, ammunition, a rifle bag, and a silencer at Johnson’s Firearms in Miami on July 5. Whiteside went directly from the gun store to the University of Miami for a workout.
As he practiced in the Hurricanes gym for about an hour, Whiteside left his Rolls Royce unlocked. The next day when Whiteside got home, he noticed that his rifle bag and weapon were missing. Whiteside called police. Whiteside told detectives that he had only been at the gun store, Watsco Center, and then to his Miami Beach home. After reviewing surveillance video, Coral Gables police determined that the gun was not stolen on campus, as he believed. Whiteside was the only person seen to go in and out of his unlocked $400,000 car.

About two weeks later, Whiteside and his attorneys spoke with detectives. During that conversation, Whiteside remembered that he had left the just-purchased rifle unattended in his unlocked car when he went back inside the gun store. It was determined that the gun was stolen at that time, and not on UM’s campus.
On July 23, the gun and ammunition were found in a stolen vehicle in North Miami. The silencer was later located as well.
Well would you look at that? Today’s Florida Man story that will have you shaking your head all the way until the weekend involves someone we have actually heard of. The stupidity of the Sunshine State truly never lets the internet down.
Now we can debate what needs to be fixed in this country to stop the very serious problem of mass shootings. Better gun control, mental health reform, or all of the above and then some (hint: C is the correct answer). But I wouldn’t hate an IQ test being added into the mix as well. The lab portion of the test can even be bringing your newly purchased assault rifle to your car and then re-entering to store. If you didn’t lock your car after placing a high-powered killing machine with ammunition mere minutes after you bought it while thinking “some kid or maniac could”, you have failed the test and revealed yourself to be unfit to own said assault rifle as well as a pistol or even BB gun. You can even add a few minuses to your F- grade if you happen to work less than an hour away from where the Parkland shootings occurred. Sorry, but those are the breaks Hassan. I didn’t make the rules, I just watch them get broken seemingly every week by a breaking news report followed by a shitload of worthless thoughts and prayers being sent to a different part of the country.
