Black and Blue and (Chris) Brown

I realize Trent posted this story earlier…  Whereas I was busy cramming for Blogger School.

Still going to hit PUBLISH on this because you really cannot talk enough about a groundbreaking talent like Chris Brown IMHO.

And maybe you can’t tell by looking at me, but I am a big R&B guy…  Always have been.

I have said before that if the Thanos snap eliminated 50% of the population and 95% of the musicians, the remaining 5% would probably redevelop some sort of R&B to help us relax while we rebuild from the ashes.

I am also on record saying that R&B got decidedly worse once artists decided to perform in open silk shirts…  Oftentimes, in the rain.

So it was with great sadness that I watched that recent documentary on R Kelly.   I never really did the legwork on him because I ignorantly thought his exploits were more of a punchline or an urban myth. That documentary, however, was a real eye-opener, and I now regret ever giving that pedophile cocksucker a dime of my money on iTunes.

In the wake of R Kelly, I had asked people who is the modern-day go-to R&B artist that I should uncomfortably “bounce” to?

More than a few people pointed me in the way of Leon Bridges, who does have that “old school” feel to him, and then a ton of people recommended Usher, some gentleman named Ne Yo, and Chris Brown.

Saw this today…

Now I am not saying Chris Brown is guilty of these charges.  We live in a day and age where just the allegation of impropriety is enough for a public execution.  What I am saying is that IF Chris is guilty of raping a girl in Paris, and coupled with his past record of beating the face off Rihanna, then I am going to be erasing yet another R&B artist off of my iPod Nano.

And it brings up a broader question… What is it about rhythm and/or blues that makes these artists so disrespectful towards women?

I listen to R&B and I want to throw on a velvet robe, pour a glass of brandy, and maybe fuck.

Seems like after performing R&B these artists are prone to taking the belt off a robe and use it to fuck up someone named Brandi.

Either way, it’s gotta stop.  Young artists need to know that R&B doesn’t stand for “rape and bludgeon”, so IF Chris Brown and R Kelly are brought to justice for the crimes they ALLEGEDLY committed, then I hope they are both thrown into an active volcano.

And I am telling you right now…  If Lionel Richie gets caught with his finger in some sort of inappropriate pudding, then I am going to cut my fucking ears off.
