WOW, A Breaking Bad Movie That Will Follow Jesse After His Escape Is Apparently In The Works

Variety – “Breaking Bad” may have had its finale in 2013, but Variety has confirmed that series creator Vince Gilligan is working on a new film with ties to the beloved series.

Gilligan is working on a two-hour film, though whether it’s destined for multiplexes or television is unclear.

Details are sparse, with no information on what shape the movie would take — a prequel like “Better Call Saul” or something else — or whether any of “Breaking Bad’s” stars will return. The Albuquerque Journal includes a logline stating the film “tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.”

The Journal also reports the title as “Greenbriar,” though whether that’s the final title is in the air as well. Production in the Duke City is scheduled to begin mid-November through early February, according to the Journal.

This is actually nuts. I JUST finished rewatching Breaking Bad last night. I blogged my thoughts about Jesse today. And now news just broke tonight that Vince Gilligan is in fact about to start filming a movie that “tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom”. There is no way, no how that isn’t Jesse. It would be the biggest blue balls in the history of blue balls if this was a front for something other than the continuation of Jesse’s story.

Could it be an AMC movie? Maybe something for Netflix? Or are we going to the theaters with it? Time will tell. But man, if we get the band back together ho-ly shit. Flashback scenes with Walter and Saul and Gus Fring. Maybe current scenes with Saul as well, who knows. Do Uncle Jack and Todd have family after revenge? Does Jesse ever go back to the Nazi house and collect some of the money? Maybe that junkie starts using again and then starts the cycle all over again. One last batch for old time’s sake? There are so many questions.

Vince Gilligan, you son of a bitch, I’m not going to be able to think about anything else for the next 2 years. Or I guess til we get more information about this in the Winter, but damn, this is amazing news. Even though I hate the world’s love affair with Jesse, more Breaking Bad, the better. Yeahhhh bitch!
