SBG Ireland Fighter Cian Cowley (Conor McGregor's Cellmate!) Just Chopped His Opponent Down With Some Of The Most Savage Leg Kicks I've Ever Seen In The Middle East

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a GREAT week to be a Straight Blast Gym fighter.

Lee Hammond makes headlines and breezes his way through any and all competition in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s MMA Worlds 2018, where he finished one of his opponents with a modified Clarkoplata (omoplata/head-and-arm choke) that he affectionately renamed the “Hammoplata”:

…and will compete in the finals tomorrow, along with Ger Harris of SBG Charlestown and three other Irishmen.

Conor McGregor issues the most favorable apology anyone ever could’ve issued, for not being able to keep Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey on the shelves:

…and now, Lightweight Cian Cowley picks up the second professional mixed martial arts victory of his career with EASE, moving to 2-1 and displaying more skill than ever before in the cage.

If you’re curious about Cian’s connection to McGregor (and I guess myself), I recently wrote about both here:

It looked like a mismatch fro the start, and it was. Cowley absolutely chopped Hardeep Rai down with leg kicks throughout the first, none of which seemed to be getting checked, and it didn’t take me long to turn to Young Pageviews (who’s actually become incredibly invested in MMA these past few months, and is very respectably knowledgable given the recency of his fandom) and say, “He may drop him with a leg kick.”

Shortly afterward, Cian did drop his opponent a leg kick, and then he “SMESHED” the poor soul locked in that cage with him – right in front of Khabib Nurmagomedov and the Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov. Learn more about the relationship of those two HERE.

Here’s a look-in at the electric celebration we had in the office:

Congrats to Cian, and best of luck Lee, Ger, and the rest of the team tomorrow!
