It Didn't Take Long, But Lakers Fans Are Already Turning On LeBron James

This has to be some sort of record. LeBron has been a Laker for like 4 days and Lakers fans are already turning on their new savior. You really hate to see it, but I can’t say I’m all that surprised. The brains of many Lakers fans is in an ultimate pretzel since LeBron made this decision, because the Lebron/Kobe debate is an all time battle between Kobe Stans and LeBron stans. Now that they have to become the same person, there’s going to be mixed reactions like the one you saw above. This is why it was interesting to me that James went to LA, knowing that there is a fairly large contingent of Kobe fans that are not ready to bump him some spots on the all time Lakers list. On one hand I love the loyalty of this guy, it’s something we don’t often see with NBA fans, especially when the best player on the planet joins the team. To think this is a grown man with a fully functioning rational brain, I respect the commitment. While most of the city was ready to sell their first born child to bring LeBron to LA, it’s nice to see some Lakers fans actually have loyalty.

If we’re being honest, I was actually impressed with how effective his throwing a shoe strategy was. That’s a level of commitment I’m not sure I would have. I’d probably give it a few tosses, miss, and realize I am being an absolute lunatic and carry on with my day. Now that I think about it, I would not put it past Kobe to hire a bunch of these guys to walk around LA and do this sort of thing to any Kobe mural that now has LeBron’s face on it. I didn’t buy those supporting Kobe tweets for one second when the decision went down, the guy is a maniac and without a doubt hates seeing all the love for James. I’m sure he even debated coming out of retirement simply because he’s crazy.

It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes to see the rest of Laker Nation turn on LeBron, I imagine it’ll truly start the second the Lakers start to struggle. I think I’m most excited for every Kobe stan to freak out and forget all about his shortcomings during his Lakers tenure for some classic revisionist history. Even if they want to talk about how this upcoming season is a throwaway year, and that it’s 2019 where things should really take off, you have a quick 3 or 4 game losing streak and you bet your ass we’re getting the “Kobe never did ____” takes. You can inject that shit right into my veins. Between the personalities on this team and the unwillingness for Lakers fans to let go of the past, this is going to be must watch stuff.
