I Just Witnessed One Of The Craziest Hockey Games I've Ever Seen

Vegas Golden Knights v San Jose Sharks - Game Seven

I actually think I just witnessed one of the craziest hockey games I have ever seen. I’m lost at words for what I just saw but I’ll do my best. The Sharks just pulled off one of the most insane comebacks in NHL history. Did they get a little help from the referees? Absolutely. But the game still turned out to be one for the books.

This series has been all about comebacks for the Sharks. They were down 3-1 in the series and came back. They were down 3-0 tonight and came back. That is what the Sharks do. When you think you are about to make them tap out, they pull some crazy shit (with the help of the ref) and end up knocking you out with a haymaker.

First, let’s discuss one of the worst calls I have ever seen in an NHL hockey game. There is nothing worse than when the refs make a call that decides the game and this call tonight 100% decided the game. The Golden Knights were up 3-0 when Cody Eakin was given a 5-minute major and game misconduct for a cross check on Joe Pavelski. It should have been two minutes, that’s it. Instead the Sharks were given five minutes of power play time to start their come back and they took full advantage, scoring 4 goals on the power play to take a 4-3 lead.

The game obviously couldn’t end like that, the hockey gods had to give the Golden Knights another chance after the refs royally fucked them. That’s when Jonathan Marchessault tied things up in the final minute to send things to overtime.

Then Barclay Goodrow takes things into his own hands and ends the series and ends the Golden Knights season in OT with the game winner.

One of the most insane hockey games I have ever seen. Not the best hockey game I have ever seen, but from start to finish the game just kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time, then the 3rd period and overtime was just pure chaos.

Tough loss for Vegas too. They didn’t deserve to lose that game or have their season ended that way and the team expressed their displeasure in the media after the game. You got to feel for Cody Eakin too, the poor guy just cost his team their season on a bullshit call. I believe the Golden Knights were the better team too and I’m not just saying that because I bet them on the alternate puck line.
