Caris LeVert's Injury Has Me Sick

Brooklyn Nets v Denver Nuggets

First thing you should know in this blog is I can’t bring myself to upload the video. To see the play, go here. I can’t bring myself to embed the video here because frankly I can’t stomach to watch it. Those demons are way too fresh in my brain to see someone’s ankle go through that so you can click that on your own time. Essentially, here’s what happened

Absolutely awful. For those who maybe weren’t aware, LeVert was off to a career best start to this season averaging 19/4.2/3.7 on 47/32% splits with 1.5 3PM a night. He was very much blossoming into the #1 option for a feisty Nets team, and in my opinion is a legit candidate for Most Improved. To see someone playing so well have his season ended and possibly future impacted, it makes you sick. Right in the pit of your stomach. All I can think about was the shock I felt when this happened last season to Hayward. That was a feeling I never knew was possible and it wasn’t even my ankle. You are in this weird place of shock, disgust, shock again, and then sympathy. It’s really not fair, but then again neither is sports. I’m sure there are Nets fans feeling that right this second, and I’m here for you. This play, like Hayward’s injury is just one of those freak accidents where it’s just back luck over anything else. That’s what makes it so tough, because it’s a 1 in a million play that has a different ending 99% of the time. But this time it didn’t and that really, really sucks.

The good news is people come back from this and LeVert is only 24. He has plenty of basketball in his future, it just won’t be for a little while
