Last year, Andrew Benintendi won the Dick Howser Trophy, which is presented to the best college baseball player in the country, as voted upon by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as well as winning the Golden Spikes award, which is presented to the best amateur baseball player in the country. In addition to that, he was named the SEC Player of the Year, AND the College Player of the Year by Baseball America after he hit .380 with a 1.204 OPS, leading the SEC in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and home runs with 19.

After establishing himself as, hands down, the best college player on the planet, he was selected in the first round with the No. 7 overall pick by the Boston Red Sox in the 2015 MLB draft. After about one full year in their minor league system, this majestic hair-having son of a bitch arrived in The Show, skipping the Triple-A level altogether. He’s been here for less than a month, and he’s already a household name in Boston. Since arriving at the major league level, Benintendi’s hitting .306 with an .821 OPS, and a highlight reel catch that Red Sox fans will be talking about for a long time. Grab your Benintendi gear while there’s still some room on the bandwagon.
