You know how you know a guy’s NFL career is working out OK? When three years into it, he’s playing in his third AFC champion game and three professional, accomplished and talented offensive lineman who’ve had the misfortune of lining up from him are at home live-Tweeting each other about how unblockable he is. He’s getting respect from the men assigned to him from Detroit to Miami to Atlanta and everywhere in between. But that is just another Sunday in January for Trey Flowers, emerging superstar and future NFL DPOTY.
Not bad for a guy taken in the 4th round, 101st overall who not only wasn’t in the top 10 defensive ends drafted, but wasn’t even the top DE selected by his own team. It’s no coincidence that before Flowers made the play that saved Super Bowl LI, he was the last man off the field for the Patriots last practice of the season. Congratulations and all to Chandler Jones for making all that money and leading the league in sacks. He deserves it. But I think they replaced him just fine, thanks.
