The Aftermath of the Brawl: Gary Sanchez Suspended 4 Games While Dellin Betances Got NOTHING For The Brawl Yesterday
Thank you MLB. CLEARLY there was zero intent when Dellin Betances accidentally hit James McCann in the head late in the 7th inning yesterday
After there were multiple ejections and an all out brawl before, the Yankees battled back and tied the game. Dellin Betances entered to hopefully give the Bombers some length until the 9th inning. Unfortunately a 98 mph fastball got away and nailed McCann in the side of the head. Obviously this was viewed by idiots as intentional because of the timing, but in reality why the fuck would Dellin hit him on purpose. I battled with idiots like KFC on Twitter all day long because there’s just no way it was on purpose. With Warren, Kahnle, and Chapman already used, and in a tie game late, the Yankees couldn’t afford to lose one of their best relievers and quite frankly one of their only relievers left in the game so that they could continue to send a message. So thankfully the MLB reviewed the situation thoroughly and came to the correct conclusion that Betances wasn’t worthy of a suspension or a fine. Thank God this isn’t the NFL.

Gary Sanchez on the other hand got slapped with a 4 game suspension. I mean this is warranted, no other way around it. Gary took multiple cheap shots on both Miguel Cabrera and Nick Castellones while the brawl was going on. Is he a badass for doing so? Sure. Is he an idiot to do this in the midst of a crazy hot streak and a playoff chase, absolutely. You just have to be smarter than that Gary. He’ll likely appeal it, but to be honest I’m fine with him taking it right now. Cleveland and Boston come to town next week and we’re going to need him for those games. I think the Yanks can handle Seattle this weekend so if I were him I would take the games and sit the bench this weekend. I don’t see how appealing that gets it shortened.
UPDATE: Miguel Cabrera is a little butt hurt Kahnle who threw behind him wasn’t suspended, but it’s totally okay if Fuller wasn’t either. You want Kahnle suspended then Fullmer needs to be too. Oh and you’re accusing Aaron Judge of punching you in the throat? You would be in a coma for no less than a year if that happened. Nice try you pussy.
