The Sun- The rare occurrence is only known to have happened only three times before in the world. It is caused by a bile pigment called biliverdin that is found in the placenta of dogs which can stain the puppy’s coat when it mixes with the mother’s amniotic fluid – the liquid that protects her pups. Mrs Sutherland from Golspie in the Highlands has now named the pup Forest in recognition of her unusual shade. She said: “The first pup was stuck, so myself and my daughter Claire managed to free him and pull him out safely. “It was all hands on deck but then as the puppies started to arrive, we noticed that one of the puppies had green fur. We couldn’t believe it. “When we checked it out later we found out it is very unusual and to do with the placenta. The colour has faded quite a bit already and will be gone soon, I’m told. We’ve named him Forest.”

I gotta tell ya, I’m skeptical of this. I don’t wanna be but I’m very skeptical actually. It seems too awesome to be true. I don’t think the dog did anything sketchy here. Dogs aren’t capable of such shenanigans. Momma pup looks beyond excited to have puppies, regardless of what color they are (I guess she can’t see color but that’s beside the point). She’s smiling her face off in all of the pictures. If anything, I think the humans might’ve dyed that poor puppy green in order to grab headlines. I hope it’s not true. I hope to God it’s not. I hope the disgusting bile/placenta explanation is true. But it just seems a little too crazy for it to be real. I also am rooting for it to be real cause the name Forest is fantastic. A+ name. To be completely honest I’m kinda pissed that the color will eventually fade. That’s bullshit. The name Forest isn’t gonna make sense anymore. Anyway. I’m just happy everyone is healthy and happy. Go dogs Go.
