Charles Oakley Declines Agreement To Get Charges Dropped And Will See James Dolan's Ass In Court

ESPN- Knicks legend Charles Oakley on Friday rejected an opportunity to have charges stemming from a February incident at Madison Square Garden dismissed and requested a trial to fight those charges. Judge Joanne Watters set a trial date for Aug. 4 during Oakley’s appearance at Manhattan Criminal Court. Oakley mostly declined comment while walking out of the courthouse, saying “it’s part of life, it’s part of life” when asked about going to trial.

Oakley was arrested after a run-in with Madison Square Garden security on Feb. 8 and charged with two misdemeanors of assault, two misdemeanors of harassment and one misdemeanor of trespassing. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Lipes on Friday offered Oakley an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal — an agreement that would lead to charges being dropped if Oakley stays out of trouble for a set time and complies with an unspecified order of protection. Oakley, through attorney Alex Spiro, rejected that offer and requested a trial.

Watters granted Spiro’s subpoena requests for documents at Madison Square Garden. Spiro also stated in court that he has a list of witnesses that he would like to call on during trial, but he did not specify which witnesses he would use. Madison Square Garden declined comment on the matter.

Hey Jimmy, you kazoo playing, fedora wearing, worst human on the planet being motherfucker. I have a question for you.

This was all fun and games when you were threatening Oakley with legal action like a typical rich fuck that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. But now you put yourself in a courtroom in a case that will be decided by your peers with one of the most beloved sports figures in New York. I would say that the Oakman turning down an agreement where he just had to stay out of trouble, probably accept some sort of restraining order from that cowardly ewok, and the charges would disappear was cocky. But the truth is what New York jury is going to choose James Dolan’s side over Charles Oakley’s? This may be the first case in recorded history where the jury actually rules that the Plaintiff should get the death penalty.

Or better yet, what New York judge would turn down a Charles Oakley request for trial by combat? The Oakman can obviously handle his own dirt. And there is no way anyone with a brain would willingly go into a ring with an angry Charles Oakley, let alone risk life and limb for James Dolan. Not Steve Mills. Not Isiah Thomas. Not anyone else employed by MSG’s KGB that somehow remain employed by Dolan despite being abysmal at their jobs. I don’t know how basic law or countersuits work, but if this all ends with Charles Oakley popping Dolan’s head like a balloon, the last 6 months of utter embarrassment for this franchise will all have been worth it.

P.S. I neeeed to hear John McEnroe’s account of the events from that fateful night.
